Real Art always seem to be up to race related shenanigans – from the original demolition derby, to the scrap yard 500, to the latest quest to form a badass moped club. I thought it'd be cool to design some threads that would honor the grease monkey side to us.

Materials used:
American Apparel t-shirts, emulsion, ink, muscle, squeegees, love

What one word best describes your product?

Fast!

Does your product have a fun story behind it? If so, what is it?
Like a lot of other Real Mart products, this idea started as a Christmas gift for another employee. I drew Geoff Stump's name, so that guy was definitely an inspiration. I will say, these shirts look faster if you're wearing a mustache.

How do you envision people using your product?
The perfect customer is someone who wants to wear these while they pimp out their moped or prep their jalopy for a trip across the country.

What's your favorite thing about your product?
My brother helped me screenprint these – twin power!

Artist Q&A

What do you do at Real Art?
At Real Art, I develop our strategy and approach to projects, write proposals, meet with clients and work closely with our creative teams.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work or creating fabulous goods for Real Mart?
When I'm not at work or creating fabulous goods for Real Mart, my favorite thing to do on a weekend or extended vacation is to pack my suitcase and head out of town for a concert or down time with friends. Northern Michigan is insanely beautiful—I look forward to cruising the small town of Glen Arbor and hiking the Sleeping Bear sand dunes every summer.

What drives you to make the things you’re selling on Real Mart?
The creative buzz that happens during our Christmas gift exchange, where everyone has to make their gift, is very inspiring. Real Mart is extending that energy throughout the year.

What creative project are you currently brainstorming?
We're currently making the next generation of Ford cop cars look badass.

Who has been your greatest inspiration(s)—professionally or creatively (or both)?
My twin brother Joe has always been into art and had an eye for design. He knew who Chip Kidd and Art Chantry were before I did and decided to focus on design in high school. I hung with him and have had the bug ever since.

What music do you like to listen to when you’re working?
It's always changing, but lately it's been Broken Social Scene, Phoenix, Spoon and The National.
